ADHD Advice

Learners with ADHD can be difficult to engage and manage in a mainstream setting. But there are some simple things that you can do with your classroom routines to help them reach their potential. Let me help!

Behaviour Management

Teachers say that behaviour in their classrooms is the main barrier to learning for their students and sometimes it is difficult to see the wood for the trees. With a few simple routines and resources you can improve the outcomes for your learners.

Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder

Learners with FASD can be very impulsive and unpredictable. With many cross overs with ADHD and ASC their needs can be difficult to identify. This is where I can help. Let me help you to create an environment where these children can thrive.

Autism Spectrum Condition

Every student with ASC is different - there is no 'one size fits all' approach to Autism. Their academic needs can vary wildly and their social, communication and sensory needs will be unique to them. I can help you navigate this.

Looked After Children

Children in care or previously looked after need that extra bit of care and attention from us as educators. They may have experienced trauma and are likely to have attachment disorder. As the lead on LAC at my previous school I have some great resources for you to access.

From the clothes that you wear, to the displays on your walls, to the way your room is configured. All these aspects and more can affect the way that your students engage and learn. Let me help you to get the balance right.

Learning Styles and Approaches

We all learn best in different ways. Whether you learn best with Visual, Auditory, Reading/Writing, or Kinaesthetic learning - if your style is catered for then you will achieve. The same applies to your students. So let me help you to accommodate these styles in your teaching.

Moving and Handling

An increasing amount of our students in school are still in hygiene products, meaning staff are having to change them. Whether this is to do with difficulties with toilet training, cognitive delay, physical disabilities or illness. I can give full advice and training on how to change students whilst maintaining dignity and protecting your personal liability.
