ACEs
This is one of my most popular courses. In this 1 hour course I explain what Adverse Childhood Experiences are, how they affect children through into adulthood and what you can do to help them. I also share the story of my own ACEs and how they have affected me throughout my life.
COURSE LENGTH - 1 HOUR
Autism Spectrum Condition
ASC is a very complex and individual spectrum of conditions. In this training I cover all aspects of ASC, how student are affected and what you can do to support them. We will look at Social communication and interaction, Patterns of behaviour (including stimming), Sensory processing and how you can adapt your teaching to support their needs.
COURSE LENGTH - 1 HOUR, HALF A DAY or A FULL DAY
ADHD
In this training I explain what ADHD is, what the symptoms are and how getting a diagnosis works. We briefly cover treatments before looking at how we can best support learners with ADHD in your classrooms. Also included are some practical resources and signposting to services for schools and parents.
COURSE LENGTH - 1 HOUR
Basic Makaton
Makaton is a unique language programme used all over the UK. It combines simple signing with speech. It is widely used in the Down Syndrome community, but also useful for students with communication needs. I can provide training on the vocabulary in stages 1-4. I provide resource sheets and sign posting for you to buy resource books from the Makaton Charity.

Attachment Disorder
This course is particularly useful for those learners who are looked after. However, there are many children who live with their birth parents and also have this condition. In the training I cover the different types of Attachment Disorder, why it happens and what treatments are available. We will also look at how to help you support your students and signpost you to resources that may be useful.

Children's Mental Health
This has become a hot topic. In this course we will cover some of the mental health issues that our students are currently experiencing, what the signs and symptoms are and what you can do as a school and as teachers to help our learners get the support they need.

EBSA
Emotionally based school avoidance has become an increasing issue within schools and is now recognised as a Special Educational Need. With over a million students nationwide being persistently absent, this is a subject that needs tackling. In this training I show a whole school approach to dealing with the signs, symptoms and support that can be offered these children.

Moving & Handling
As a Moving and Handling trainer in a special school for 12 years, I can offer a range of Training for your school if you have students that are incontinent and need changing on hygiene beds.

Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder
An estimated 3.2% of babies born the UK are affected by FASD (3-4 times the rate of autism). In this training we look at why alcohol affects children, what the symptoms are and how to support these leaners to engage in their learning and socially integrate effectively and make progress in the classroom.
COURSE LENGTH - 1 HOUR
PECs
It is a common misconception that by simply using Boardmaker symbols, you are using PECs. The acronym stands for Picture Exchange Communication System. It is a multi-disciplinary approach with 6 phases. In this training I will explain the phases, the process and give your staff chance to practice with their colleagues.

Intensive Interaction
Intensive interaction is a person-centred communication approach that directly promotes social inclusion and communication, regardless of age. It is used with students who are non-verbal and is a responsive approach to communication that values uniqueness. In this training I will share the principals of the process, share some recordings of good practice and give you chance to practice with your colleagues.

Sensory Processing
Sensory Processing is an issue for us all. If you can understand how your students process their sensory input, you can tweak your teaching to best serve their needs. Our brains are very complex. In this training we look at some of the issues around sensory processing and their signs and symptoms to help you to identify them in your students.
COURSE LENGTH - 1 or 2 HOURS
Writing Social Stories
Social Stories are particularly effective for students with ASC, ADHD and FASD. They are used to introduce rules, routines, concepts and dealing with fears and worries. There is a formula for a social story and in this training I will share this formula with you and give you chance to write one for a particular student in your class. Once you know how to do them, they are easy to write.

Zones of Regulation
The Zones of Regulation is an evidence-based framework that builds emotional regulation and behavioural skills for life. It supports neurodivergent and neurotypical learners alike. It builds resilience and co-regulation. In this training I will share the theory and practice behind this useful tool that can be implemented across your whole school. I will also share with you some of my resources.
