Assessment of SEND

On a young person's EHCP you are required to state the Strengths and Needs in the 4 areas of learning (Cognition, Communication, SEMH and Physical/Sensory. I have developed Assessment resources that I can use to provide you with the information that you need for your EHCP.

Behaviour Management

Teachers say that behaviour in their classrooms is the main barrier to learning for their students and sometimes it is difficult to see the wood for the trees. With a few simple routines and resources you can improve the outcomes for your learners.

Parental Engagement

Parents of children with additional needs can often be difficult to engage. Let me speak to them and see if I can encourage them to get involved. I also offer Parental Training Courses (see my Training services page).

Increases in Funding

It can be a daunting and time consuming task getting an increase in funding for our learners with an EHCP. Having lead in this area for the last 12 years, I know a trick or two that will help. Let me take the headache out of the process for you and do the leg work you probably don't have time to do.

Classroom Observations

We all know that Educational Psychologists are difficult to find and your time is often limited with them, meaning they are only working on the most significant cases in your school. Many Local Authorities will take the report of a Specialist Teacher as a substitute when applying for an EHCP. Check with your LA and book me in!

Specialist Teacher Reports

As an additional service linking to Classroom Observations, I can offer Specialist Teacher Reports that would help you to gain EHCPs for those learners who require one. Check with your LA if they will accept these. I would also be happy to attend reviews.

Trauma Informed Care

Writing EHCPs

Students that have experienced Trauma often have significant SEMH needs. This is an invisible disability and requires special handling to ensure engagement and progress. I can advise and support your school with this. I also offer a great Training course on ACEs (see my Training services page).

Creating and Writing EHCPs is a lengthy and time consuming task. I have 12 years of experience of writing these documents. Let me help take some of the workload off your admin or SENCo and do the leg work for you. I can work with teachers, parents and the rest of your team to ensure the EHCPs your children have are fit for purpose.
